The second-hand marketplace Members Express Displeasure Over Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Social Media Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
They have suggested members to check their listings and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Changes
Earlier, the sizing featured one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.
Required Changes
A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
